"Moscow's messages will not be able to change the positions of Baku and Yerevan" – Political commentator

“The Russian leadership is trying to conclude a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Moscow. In this context, messages are periodically sent to Azerbaijan and Armenia.” Political commentator Məhəmməd Əsədullazadə said this in an interview with Medianews.az.

He stated that Azerbaijan and Armenia can sign a peace agreement at the demarcated border between the two countries: “For this, there is no need for Washington or other capitals. However, given the changes in geopolitical processes, it is not excluded that the peace agreement will be signed in the place where it was initialed - Washington. Especially under the growing pressure from Russia, this process may take place.

I should note that a dialogue is being established between the civil societies of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Russia is trying to prevent this process. But Moscow’s increasing pressure will not be able to change the positions of Baku and Yerevan regarding the peace process.”

Let us recall that on August 8, the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia signed a Joint Declaration in Washington in the presence of the US President, committing to the inviolability of borders, the inadmissibility of the use of force to acquire territories, and the establishment of neighborly relations. The foreign ministers of the two countries also initialed drafts of agreements on peace and the establishment of interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. In Washington, an agreement was also reached on the creation of a corridor passing through Armenia connecting the main part of Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. This project is to be realized under the patronage of the United States.
