A BMW car exploded in the city of Balashikha, Moscow region, and the driver was killed.
Medianews.az reports that the Russian Investigative Committee has released this information.
According to the information, the explosion occurred at around 5:30 AM in the Aviators neighborhood, on Koldunov Street. According to the Investigative Committee’s statement, the explosive device was activated while the car was in motion.
The driver sustained multiple injuries and died at the scene.
The Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case. It is not yet known under which article the case is being investigated.
The "Mash" Telegram channel, known for its close ties to Russian security agencies, writes that the explosion occurred the moment the driver got into the car.
In April 2025, a car also exploded in the Aviators neighborhood. As a result of that incident, Yaroslav Moskalik, deputy chief of the Main Operations Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, was killed. Local residents reported that many military personnel lived in that area.
One day after the explosion, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced the detention of a person named Ignat Kuzin as the perpetrator of the terrorist act, calling him an "agent of Ukrainian special services." According to information, Kuzin has a residence permit in Ukraine. According to the FSB version, Kuzin was the one who placed the bomb in the car. In November 2025, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.
