The Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AQTA) has completed the investigations and laboratory examinations related to the food poisoning incidents that occurred in the Ganja and Samukh regions between July 12 and 17, 2026.
According to information provided to Medianews.az by AQTA, inspectors from the Agency conducted site inspections, and samples were taken from food products offered for consumption and from various surfaces for laboratory testing.
Based on the results, Staphylococcus aureus was detected in the sample taken from the prepared meal - bozbash, Staphylococcus aureus and coliform bacteria were found in the lavash product, and Escherichia coli (E.coli) was identified in the cheese product.
The detection of these microorganisms in food products indicates that the products were subject to microbiological contamination and that personal and general hygiene rules, as well as sanitary requirements, were not fully adhered to during the production and processing processes.
Within the framework of control measures, other individuals and establishments selling lavash products were identified, and the recall of products was ensured.
Relevant information about the detected violations has been provided to the appropriate state authorities.
The Agency recommends that citizens obtain food products only from producers and sales outlets that are officially registered and operate in compliance with food safety requirements.
