Iran has commented on the detention of French diplomats.
Medianews.az reports that Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi expressed his protest regarding the actions of two French diplomats in Tehran that violated diplomatic norms during a phone conversation with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian.
He stated that such behavior is unacceptable and emphasized that the country's laws and regulations must be followed:
"Moreover, adherence to diplomatic principles and norms is a necessary condition for the continued operation of foreign representations."
Araqchi called to prevent the repetition of such actions and urged the French government to take the necessary measures.
It should be recalled that France's Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian stated on July 20 that two French diplomats were subjected to an "extremely serious act of intimidation" by Iranian security forces.
