Czech President Petr Pavel appointed businessman and billionaire Andrej Babiš as prime minister on December 9.
Medianews.az reports that Andrej Babiš, born in 1954, served as prime minister from 2017 to 2021. The Citizens' Discontent Action led by him came forward in the October 3-4 election for the lower house of parliament, winning 80 mandates in the 200-seat legislative body and entered into a coalition with other political forces.
The executive power in the country is carried out by the government formed based on the results of the lower house election.
The president elected in the general election is considered the head of state and the supreme commander of the Armed Forces in the Czech Republic. Petr Pavel has held the presidential post since 2023.
