The President of Iran addressed the American people.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, has addressed the American people.

According to Medianews.az, in his written address, Pezeshkian stated that Iran has historically not been an initiator of wars and criticized Washington's policies and military activities in the region.

According to him, although Iran has faced foreign pressures and attacks at different times, it has acted only from a defensive position.

Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that the Iranian people have no hostility towards other nations, including the peoples of the US and Europe, and Iranians have historically been able to distinguish between peoples and governments. He stated that portraying Iran as a threat stems from political and economic interests.

The address also criticized the concentration of US military forces around Iran. The Iranian president noted that Iran, like any other country, is obliged to strengthen its defense capabilities.

Touching on Iran-US relations, Pezeshkian called the 1953 coup in Iran, carried out with Washington's assistance, a turning point. He said that event halted the democratic process in Iran and created distrust towards the US. It was noted that this distrust deepened in subsequent years with sanctions, military support, and direct interventions.

In his address, the president acknowledged the negative impact of sanctions and wars on Iranian society but emphasized that the country has made significant progress in recent years in education, technology, health, and infrastructure sectors.

He sharply criticized recent US military actions by posing the following questions: "Which real interests of the American people does this war serve? What concrete danger exists from Iran?" Pezeshkian stated that attacks on civilian objects and harsh statements have damaged the US's international image.

The letter also notes that Iran has chosen the path of negotiations and has complied with the agreements reached, but the US's withdrawal from these agreements and its attacks amidst negotiations have escalated the situation.

Pezeshkian called the attacks on energy and industrial facilities "war crimes," stating that this will further destabilize the region and create long-term tensions.

The President of Iran also touched upon the Israeli factor in US regional policy, claiming that Washington acts under the influence of this country.

In conclusion, Pezeshkian called on US citizens to focus on real facts rather than media portrayals and stated that the path of confrontation is becoming increasingly costly. According to him, the main choice facing the world is between confrontation and cooperation, and this decision will affect the fate of future generations.
