Can a teacher on maternity leave change their workplace? - Requirement of the law

Every year, a competition is announced for teachers to change their workplaces. In some cases, teachers on maternity leave also want to participate in this process.

So, can teachers on maternity leave participate in the competition for changing workplaces?

Medianews.az reports that Oxu.Az's education expert Səbuhi Abdullayev answered questions regarding the issue.

The education expert said that those on maternity leave cannot participate in the mentioned competition.

He noted that, in general, a teacher must have 3 years of experience at their last workplace to be eligible for reassignment:

"In this case, the teacher can participate in the reassignment. The 3 years of experience must be at the last permanent workplace. For example, if a teacher has a total of 10 years of experience but has not worked for 3 years at the last school, they cannot participate in this process.

Certification scores or the scores obtained in the teachers' recruitment exam are also important. Since these are currently in place, the diagnostic assessment score does not play a big role. It is considered within a 60-point system, and the 100-point system of the Teachers' Recruitment (MİQ) exam is also adjusted to 60."

He stated that changing workplaces from districts to Baku is not possible:

"However, reassignment from Baku to the districts is possible. District-to-district reassignment is also possible. When referring to Baku city, Absheron district is not included."

The expert added that besides teachers on maternity leave, those with MİQ scores, certification scores, or diagnostic assessment scores below 30 also cannot participate in the reassignment competition.
