Although the spices used in daily meals enrich the flavor, their impact on health should also be considered. Especially people with gastrointestinal system and kidney problems should be more careful.
Medianews.az citing Foodinfo.az reports that gastroenterologist and endocrinologist Dilyara Lebedeva explained three spices that can have a negative effect on the stomach and kidneys. According to the doctor, rosemary can burden the kidneys and may pose a risk in pregnant women and individuals with high blood pressure. Red pepper, on the other hand, is not recommended during gastrointestinal diseases and can increase appetite, leading to excessive food intake.
The specialist also states that clove can intensify symptoms in people with stomach ulcers and may cause weakness if used excessively. Along with this, Lebedeva emphasizes that turmeric is one of the most beneficial spices. It has anti-inflammatory effects and supports digestion.
The doctor notes that when used in the right amount, licorice positively contributes to healthy nutrition.
