Famous singer European Union filed a lawsuit

The Court of the European Union has registered the claim of Russian singer Polina Gagarina.

Medianews.az, citing Oxu.Az, reported that information regarding this has been posted in the court’s database.

The claim was submitted on May 25 and is currently in the review phase. The respondent in the case is the Council of the European Union.

In October 2024, Gagarina also filed a lawsuit demanding the annulment of the sanctions imposed by the European Union. In her claim, the singer accused the Council of the European Union of violating the right to effective judicial protection, the principles of freedom of expression and creative freedom.

The singer was included in the sanctions list on June 24, 2024, under the 14th sanction package applied against Russia.

Sanctioned individuals are held responsible for actions that threaten Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence. They are banned from entering and transiting through European Union countries, and EU citizens and companies are prohibited from conducting financial transactions with the individuals on the list.
