Record heat in several regions of the USA has caused the deaths of 25 people.
This was reported by "NBC News" citing state officials.
It was noted that the highest number of deaths was recorded in the state of New Jersey - 22 people.
"The deceased are mainly people aged between 30 and 80. The deaths were recorded in 10 counties, mostly in the central and northern parts of the state," said Dalia Eweis, a representative of the state's Department of Health.
"One more person died in Illinois, and two people died in Mississippi," the channel clarified. Many of them were found in homes without air conditioning, while some were found on the street or in parked cars.
The abnormal heat also affected the celebrations of Independence Day on July 4th in Washington. Some participants in the festivities at the National Mall required medical assistance./Report
