The month of Muharram in Azerbaijan began on June 16 and will end on July 14 according to the Hijri-Qamari calendar.
Medianews.az reports that, being the first month of the Islamic calendar, it holds special spiritual significance for Muslims.
On July 14, with the end of the month of Muharram, the second month of the Hijri calendar, Safar, will begin.
