Pets today hold a special place in the lives of many families and are considered an important part of daily life. Dogs, cats, and other pets are accepted by people not only as friends but also as members of the family. However, keeping animals in residential buildings and densely populated areas must be carried out within certain rules. These rules serve to ensure both the welfare of the animals and the comfort and safety of the neighbors.
Medianews.az, citing milli.az, reports that there are legal regulations related to keeping pets in multi-storey buildings and apartments.
In the "Rules for keeping dogs, cats, or other pets in settlements of the Republic of Azerbaijan," approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, it is stated that without violating veterinary, sanitary-hygienic, noise, and other standards, each family living in separate apartments in multi-storey buildings in cities and urban-type settlements is allowed to keep one dog and two cats on the condition of not disturbing the neighbors.
It is noted that based on the official permission of veterinary and state sanitary control authorities, pets may be kept in "live nature" corners, social service institutions for children, summer and winter sports-health centers, and sanatorium-resort institutions (rest houses, boarding houses, etc.).
Additionally, in cities and urban-type settlements, free walking of dogs can be organized in properly fenced and isolated areas.
Guard dogs in organizations, offices, and institutions must be kept only in special places.
Owners of large dog breeds (Saint Bernard, shepherd dog, mastiff, boxer, Airedale terrier, Doberman pinscher, etc.) and other animals are required to place signs with pictures of dogs or wild animals and the word "Dangerous" on the doors of apartments and organizations.
