An event dedicated to July 22 - National Press Day was held with the organization of the Media Development Agency (MEDIA).
Medianews.az reports that at the event, opening remarks were made by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of MEDIA, Deputy Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC, Dağbəyi Ismayılov, who stated that the 151-year development path of the Azerbaijani national press has played an important role in the socio-political and cultural life of the country.
It was noted that the media policy defined by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev is successfully continued today by President Ilham Aliyev, and consistent measures are being taken aimed at strengthening the independence of the media, developing professional journalism, and ensuring information security.
It was emphasized that preserving the rich traditions of the national press and transferring them to future generations are among the main tasks ahead.
Member of the National Assembly and Editor-in-Chief of the "Iki sahil" newspaper Vuqar Rahimzade noted that the Azerbaijani national press, in addition to being an important turning point in the history of the country's public opinion, has played an important role in the formation of national self-awareness and enlightenment ideas.
He emphasized that the Azerbaijani press has made significant contributions over the past period to the development of society, the preservation of national values, and the formation of public consciousness.
In her speech, Deputy Chairman of the Press Council Saadet Mammadova highlighted the importance of ethical journalism principles, professional solidarity, and cooperation among media entities in the modern media environment.
It was noted that media representatives bear important responsibilities in forming a reliable information environment and ensuring proper public information.
Deputy Chairman of "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting" JSC, Rafiq Hashimov, stated in his speech that television and radio, which are an integral part of the Azerbaijani national press, play an important role in enlightening society, promoting national spiritual values, and conveying cultural heritage to future generations.
He said that in the rapidly changing information environment, the responsibility of the media increases, while professionalism, promptness, and public trust remain the main principles of this sector.
