Yasin Kurt, 45, who stayed overnight in a car in Turkey's Sakarya region, has lost 90 percent of his vision.

Medianews.az reports that after cleaning his car, Yasin fell asleep inside it and was poisoned by chemical vapors and carbon monoxide gas.

Previously a marketing manager, Yasin Kurt cleaned the seats of his car with chemical substances in November 2024. Since it started to rain, Kurt did not get out of the car; to help the seats dry quickly, he started the engine and turned on the heater. Meanwhile, the chemical vapors generated in the closed space and carbon monoxide gas leaking into the cabin from the old model car caused severe poisoning. Kurt, who slept in the car for about two hours, was rushed to the hospital the next day with severe pain.

Although doctors said "there is a 99 percent chance he will not regain consciousness," after two days of intensive care, the victim survived but almost completely lost his vision. Examinations determined that the chemical substances vaporized due to high temperature created toxic poisoning in his blood.

After long-term treatments, Kurt's mobility partially recovered; however, his vision rate was only 5 percent in the left eye and 2 percent in the right eye. Currently, 45-year-old Yasin Kurt, who has 90 percent visual impairment, stated that he does not want to stay at home and wishes to accelerate his rehabilitation process by working again and contributing to society.
