Official results of the Hungary election

The official results of the parliamentary election held in Hungary on April 12 have been announced. Medianews.az reports that according to the final count, the Respect and Freedom Party led by Peter Macar won 141 mandates out of the 199-member National Assembly and has obtained the right to form a government.

The ruling coalition partner, the Christian Democratic People's Party of the Hungarian Civic Alliance, settled for 52 mandates. The leader of the organization, Viktor Orban, served as prime minister from 1998-2002 and has held the same position since 2010.

The Our Homeland Party entered the parliament with 6 mandates.

The legislative body consists of 106 members elected by a majoritarian system (by districts) and 93 members elected by a proportional system (by party lists).

Peter Macar, born in 1981, was a member of the Hungarian Civic Alliance from 2002 to 2024. After parting ways with Viktor Orban, Peter Macar joined the Respect and Freedom Party and was elected leader of the organization on July 22, 2024.
