Claim from a former US official: The reason for leaving NATO could be Israel

Joe Kent, the former director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, who resigned in protest of the war with Iran, has made a striking claim about his country's possible exit from NATO.

Medianews.az reports that he shared a post on his social media account regarding this matter.

Joe Kent stated that the U.S. desire to distance itself from NATO does not aim to reduce foreign interventions. According to him, the main reason is to be able to freely take a stance on the side of Israel in a possible Turkey-Israel tension in Syria.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized the alliance, stating that it is not properly managed and does not provide the support Washington needs.

Kent emphasized that such a step by the U.S. will further increase tension in the region and will be a continuation of contradictory policies in the Middle East.

It should be recalled that Kent had announced his resignation in March, stating that he did not support the war with Iran morally.
