The identity of the person who attacked a high school with a firearm in the town of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Canada, has been revealed.
Medianews.az reports that the crime was committed by an 18-year-old town resident, Jessy van Rutselaar.
It is said that he is transgender due to his sexual orientation.
According to the information, after killing 9 people and wounding 2 others, he committed suicide at the scene.
The injured were transported to the hospital by emergency helicopter.
Jessy van Rutselaar’s mental state had long attracted the attention of the police. The police had made several visits to his home. Although some weapons were confiscated from Jessy van Rutselaar’s house about two years ago, they were later returned by court order.
According to the official statement, the license for the firearm registered under Jessy van Rutselaar’s name was valid until 2024.
The investigation continues. The police assume that Jessy van Rutselaar committed the crime alone and that no one conspired with him in this act. For this reason, there is no person wanted in connection with the incident.
Security measures in the region have been strengthened.
