US Senator Bernie Sanders has revealed that his country's military operations against Iran have cost $22.8 billion.
Medianews.az reports that Bernie Sanders expressed these views in a post on the social network X.
He stated that these funds could have alternatively been directed to social sectors: "With this money, it would have been possible to provide medical services to 6.8 million children, build 2.6 million social housing units, and employ 240 thousand teachers."
Sanders also emphasized that the budget could be spent on food assistance programs and reducing student loans, criticizing the priorities of the US leadership.
His statement has brought discussions back on the economic and social impacts of military expenditures in the country.
