After the eruption of the Dukono volcano located on Indonesia's Halmahera island, 20 climbers have been left stranded in the area without assistance.
Medianews.az reports that the volcano, located in the North Maluku province, became active in the morning local time and emitted ash approximately 10 kilometers high into the sky.
Following the incident, large-scale rescue teams have been dispatched to the area.
Officials have revealed that 9 of the stranded individuals are citizens of Singapore. A police-supported operation to evacuate the climbers is ongoing.
Authorities have urged the public not to approach within 4 kilometers of the crater.
It has also been reported that there is a risk of volcanic mudflows in the event of heavy rain.
