Although taking a shower every day is a common habit for many of us, experts say that it is not beneficial for everyone at all times. Hygiene experts have explained the ideal frequency of bathing to protect skin health.
According to Milli.Az, experts believe that for people who do not lead a very active lifestyle and do not sweat excessively, taking a shower every day can disrupt the natural oil balance of the skin. Under normal circumstances, showering 3-4 times a week is sufficient for hygiene.
Taking showers too frequently, especially with hot water, dries out the skin and leaves it defenseless against cracks and infections.
The expert notes that even if you do not shower every day, it is important to pay attention to the daily cleaning of specific body areas (underarms, intimate areas, and feet).
While taking a shower once a day is considered normal during summer months or in humid climates, reducing this frequency during winter helps maintain the skin’s moisture.
For athletes, those working in physically demanding jobs, or individuals who produce strong body odor, daily showers are necessary. However, in such cases, attention should be paid to not having the water temperature too high and using soaps that do not dry out the skin.
