France will not support the US initiative regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
Axar.az reports that this was stated by Benjamin Addad, France's representative for European affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"We are trying to reduce tension in the Middle East and proceed through negotiations. To resolve the issue of Iran's nuclear program, a diplomatic approach must be found, and subsequently, after military operations, navigation in the Strait of Hormuz should be opened and its freedom ensured. And this will be after the war, not within the framework of military operations," he said.
It should be noted that on April 11, talks were held between US and Iranian representatives in Islamabad and ended without a result. Later, US President Donald Trump announced the commencement of a blockade of Hormuz.
Previously, Britain and Australia announced that they would not join the blockade.
