1.5 billion dollars investment in Armenia?

The US technology company NVIDIA had signed a $500 million agreement to develop artificial intelligence in Armenia.

By 2026, NVIDIA should establish an Artificial Intelligence Center in Armenia equipped with Blackwell GPUs and having a capacity of over 100 megawatts.

The project's goal is to transform Armenia into an advanced center for artificial intelligence, revitalize the local economy with new technologies, strengthen the innovation environment, and create a sustainable platform for access to the global market.

Interestingly, information is now being spread about the further deepening of this cooperation.

There are already statements indicating that this global giant company in the field of artificial intelligence will invest $1.5 billion in Armenia.

The head of the Azerbaijan Internet Forum and director of the Multimedia Center, Osman Gündüz, told Medianews.az that $1.5 billion is a very large investment for Armenia and the region, an enormous opportunity for the development of artificial intelligence: “I think that if all this materializes, Armenia will have a chance to advance in regional competition. Armenia has taken the path of strengthening its economic capabilities in a short time by developing precisely this sector and cooperating directly with NVIDIA.

Moreover, indirectly, all this can turn Armenia into a more attractive technological center for investors, startups, global companies, and international universities.

To be frank, in Armenia, which quickly strengthens its budget and economic situation, probably revanchist tendencies will also increase; these may create problems not for us but for future generations.”

O. Gündüz noted that in recent years there has been some revival in the field of artificial intelligence in Azerbaijan: “A strategy has been adopted. Infrastructure projects are being implemented. Certain resources are allocated by the state. But these are very limited.

It seems there are serious delays and fragmentation in this sector. It is as if each government agency and each company is doing something for itself in the field of artificial intelligence. Instead of supporting business, the public sector's desire to do something on its own is observed more frequently.

Lack of coordination, limited resources, and the preference for simple projects cause serious concern. I hope those responsible for the development of the sector, as well as our institutions responsible for national security and decision-makers, are aware of these issues and what is happening in the region.”
