The best energy-boosting drinks and products

Some people drink coffee in the morning to boost their energy, but it is not safe for everyone. Doctors say that coffee can, in some cases, worsen the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux, chronic gastritis, and irritable bowel syndrome.

Medianews.az, citing Foodinfo.az, reports that Dmitri Karpenko, an associate professor at Pirogov University's clinical medicine department, states that coffee temporarily increases energy levels by activating the adrenal cortex and secreting catecholamines, but with continuous use, it can cause vegetative nervous system maladaptation and energy fluctuations.

The expert recommends coffee-free alternatives:

  • Chicory – caffeine-free, increases energy with its pleasantly bitter taste, rich in inulin which is beneficial to the intestinal microflora.

  • Matcha (green Japanese tea) – the combination of L-theanine and caffeine provides calm and sustained alertness.

  • Cacao (with water or plant milk, unsweetened) – provides a gentle stimulating effect with theobromine.

  • Ginger tea – gives warmth and a light tonic effect.

Also, some foods can provide energy like coffee: apple, nuts, and oats are effective for boosting morning energy. These products support healthy and long-lasting energy and protect against possible negative effects of coffee.
