The global crime statistics platform Numbeo has released the "Crime Index" report for 2026. The study identified the most dangerous countries in the world based on data related to theft, robbery, violence, and drugs.
Medianews.az reports that the list is predominantly dominated by Latin American and African countries.
The 10 most dangerous countries of 2026:
- Papua New Guinea – 80.9
- Venezuela – 80.4
- Haiti – 80.1
- Afghanistan – 74.8
- South Africa – 74.5
- Honduras – 71.9
- Trinidad and Tobago – 71.2
- Syria – 67.5
- Jamaica – 67.4
- Guyana – 66.9
According to the report, the security problems in the countries at the top of the list are mainly associated with political instability, economic crisis, armed groups, and organized crime.
It should be noted that Numbeo's crime index is prepared based on the sense of security, violence, and property crime observations of people living in different countries, and is evaluated on a scale of 0-100 points.
