This summer, the weather in Azerbaijan is changing frequently. One day there is scorching sunshine, and the next day there are intense rains and hail. The weather is sometimes calm and sometimes windy.
So how does this kind of unstable weather condition affect the human immune system? What changes occur in the body due to sudden heating or cooling of the weather in a short time? Does frequent temperature change increase the risk of getting sick? How can we adapt our immune system to weather changes?

Speaking to Medianews.az on the topic, therapist Gunay Latifova said that unstable weather can lead to serious complications in people with weak immune systems. According to her, sharp temperature changes cause sudden and abrupt reactions in the body: “Of course, by infection here we do not mean globally characterized epidemics or pandemics. However, flu and similar colds unfortunately occur more frequently in such weather. In addition, the use of air conditioners related to the season has also begun and this factor must definitely be taken into account. Sitting directly in front of an air conditioner in a sweaty state after coming from hot weather, as well as not maintaining the cleanliness of the device, creates a ground for diseases. Such sharp 'cold-hot' transitions shake and weaken the body.”

The doctor noted that there are several rules to protect from the negative effects caused by weather change and to increase the body's resistance: “First of all, it is essential to dress according to the weather conditions. Especially those who go to work in the morning and return in the evening should consider the cooling of the air towards the end of the day and must definitely bring an outer garment with them. Also, to maintain the body’s water balance, plenty of fluids should be consumed throughout the day. A special place should be given to fruits and vegetables in the diet. If necessary, under the recommendation and supervision of a doctor, dietary supplements and vitamins can be taken.
By following these rules in unpredictable weather conditions, the body maintains its internal balance and becomes more tolerant and resistant to various infections and viruses.”
