A court decision has been announced regarding Berk Çetin, the ex-boyfriend who beat Damla Aktepen, known as the social media phenomenon Danla Biliç.
According to Medianews.az, Istanbul 29th Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced Berk Çetin to 5 months imprisonment for the charge of "intentionally causing minor injury to a woman." Later, the court postponed the execution of the sentence.
According to the accusation, Berk Çetin beat Aktepen at the restaurant of his sports club in Eyüpsultan and had previously committed violence against her. The accused stated in court that he regretted his action.
Investigation materials based on footage from the scene indicated that Çetin struck Aktepen on the head and face. Although reconciliation efforts were made, no agreement was reached between the parties.
The prosecution had demanded a prison sentence of 9 months to 1 year and 6 months for Berk Çetin. Eventually, the court issued a 5-month imprisonment sentence and decided to suspend the announcement of the verdict.
