Iran has conducted joint military exercises named "Maritime Security Belt" with Russia and China in the Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean to reduce the possibility of a US attack.
Political analyst Elkhan Shahinoglu told Medianews.az that these exercises are held every year: "Washington is not deterred by such exercises. Because political circles in the US believe that if an attack is carried out on Iran, Russia and China will not participate in the war on Tehran's side. Moscow and Beijing will be content with just issuing anti-war statements."
E. Shahinoglu noted that Russia and China are busy dealing with different problems: "Russian President Vladimir Putin has directed his country's military and diplomatic resources towards Ukraine, and the Kremlin is not in a position to save Iran. Chinese leader Xi Jinping is busy carrying out purges in the army. According to Western media, after anti-corruption investigations against army generals, only two people remain in China's Central Military Commission (CMC), one of whom is Xi Jinping himself. He has been forced to fully concentrate the operational command of the People's Liberation Army in his own hands. Investigations are ongoing concerning China's Deputy Defense Minister Zhang Youxia and Chief of the Joint Staff Liu Zhenli. Both are suspected of serious violations of discipline and law. This is an unprecedented event in the history of the People's Republic of China."
Despite arrests in the Chinese army, Beijing continues to increase its nuclear potential. While Washington demands that China also sign a treaty on nuclear arms reduction alongside Russia, Beijing has rejected this demand. Because of this, Washington does not want to sign a new nuclear treaty with Moscow.
Meanwhile, according to information from intelligence agencies cited by CNN television channel, China has developed a new generation nuclear weapon and conducted tests. The news conveyed to the channel stated that this test is part of a broad project aimed at making China's nuclear arsenal the most modern and technologically advanced in the world. Beijing's goal is clear. China wants to match the US and Russia in nuclear potential."
