These people like to eat red meat. should reduce

Older people should reduce their consumption of red meat because it clogs the arteries. Especially after the age of 55, red meat causes more harm than benefit.

Medianews.az, citing Medicina.az, reports that neurologist Aleksandra Alekina also stated that red meat carries a risk of stroke.

She noted that a stroke is an emergency that occurs when blood flow to a part of the brain is interrupted. In ischemic stroke, this is related to blood clotting and artery blockage. In hemorrhagic stroke, a weakened blood vessel in the brain ruptures. What you eat can affect your risk of stroke. Especially, elderly people are advised not to eat red meat.

"Consumption of sausage and other red meats rich in saturated fat increases the risk of stroke. An elderly person who eats red meat has a higher probability of ischemic stroke because saturated fats clog the arteries that supply blood to the brain. These blood clots usually form in places where arteries narrow or become less clogged with fat.

Protein sources such as poultry, most fish, and lean meat alternatives like tofu, beans, and legumes are the healthiest options that help reduce the risk,” Alekina emphasized.

Research has determined that people who eat mostly chicken or turkey every day have a 13 percent lower risk of stroke compared to those who eat one serving of red meat.
