Hair loss has become a serious problem for many people, especially men. Although hair care products are effective, proper nutrition is considered the key to healthy and thick hair.
Medianews.az reports that according to a study published by Portuguese scientists in the journal “Nutrition and Health,” especially sugary and carbonated drinks — including energy drinks — negatively affect the density, thickness, and shine of hair.
The study showed that consuming more than 3.5 liters per week (approximately 11 cans) of such drinks increases the risk of hair loss in men.
Although these drinks do not directly cause hair loss, the high sugar and caffeine content raises the level of the stress hormone cortisol in the body. As a result, blood circulation is impaired and hair roots weaken.
At the same time, experts note that vitamin D plays an important role in hair health. This vitamin can help prevent both genetically originated hair loss (androgenetic alopecia) and alopecia areata cases where the immune system attacks hair roots.
Additionally, protein and iron deficiency can also cause thinning of hair and fading of its color.
