During the events that took place in the mountainous area in western Bulgaria, the bodies of six people were found.
Medianews.az reports that law enforcement agencies have classified the incident as a suspected murder-suicide.
On February 2, near the Petrohan mountain pass, the bodies of three men aged 45, 49, and 51 were found around a burned cabin. The forensic examination determined that they were shot at close range with a firearm. Two pistols and one rifle were taken from the scene.
Six days later, the bodies of two men and a 15-year-old teenager were discovered in a parked camper near Okolchista Mountain. According to initial information, shots were fired inside the vehicle. The results of the expert examination strengthen the likelihood of two murders and one suicide.
Security camera footage showed that both groups met and said goodbye at the burned cabin, after which the individuals who remained there set the building on fire.
Official agencies have called the incident an "unprecedented crime" for the country. It was reported that most of the deceased were members of a non-governmental organization involved in environmental protection.
Investigation into the matter is ongoing.
