A patient in Malatya applied to the hospital due to a cough problem lasting approximately one and a half years.
According to Milli.Az, as a result of medical examinations, the cause of the patient's long-term cough was a pumpkin seed that had fallen into the lungs.
The patient named A.T., who applied to Battalgazi State Hospital, stated that he had been suffering from a persistent dry cough for a long time. During bronchoscopy performed by doctors, it was determined that a foreign object was stuck in the respiratory tract and it was successfully removed.
After the operation, the patient's cough completely disappeared. A.T., who said he lived with this condition for about 18 months, expressed his gratitude to his doctors and hospital staff because he was finally able to breathe comfortably.
Speaking on the matter, Dr. Ömer Emre Aşkın emphasized that such cases are not rare and stated:
"There can be many different causes for a long-term cough. Sometimes foreign bodies that stick to the respiratory tract and go unnoticed can also lead to chronic cough."
Thus, this incident once again shows that when a persistent cough symptom occurs, it is extremely important to undergo a medical examination to determine the cause.
