FIFA has complied with UEFA's request and extended the suspension of Benfica's winger Gianluca Prestiani to include international competitions.
Medianews.az, citing Idman.Biz, reports that the Argentine footballer previously received a six-match ban for racist behavior, with three matches suspended.
The ban applies only to international matches. Therefore, Prestiani will be able to continue playing domestically for Benfica.
However, if called up to the Argentine national team, he will have to miss the first two games of the 2026 World Cup.
Gianluca Prestiani made his debut for the Argentine national team last November. He was also called up to the national team in March but did not play.
