Members of a gang in Baku involved in an illegal gambling network related to foreign affairs before the judge

A trial has been held regarding the criminal case against members of a group organizing illegal online gambling and casino games.

According to Medianews.az, during the process chaired by judge Azer Tagiyev of the Baku Court for Serious Crimes, the personal information of the accused group members was verified. A decision was announced to proceed with the court review of the criminal case without changing the selected detention and non-detention preventive measures against them.

The court hearing has been scheduled for July 2.

It should be noted that the group members were detained and involved in the investigation by the Cybercrime Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

During the investigation, it was determined that the detainees Shikar Aliyev, Rasul Hashimov, Hasan Itirov, Goshgar Alizade, and Kenan Osmanli were found guilty of establishing criminal connections with organizers of illegal gambling and sports betting websites operating in various foreign countries by purchasing online links and codes that grant participation in gambling games on those pages and creating virtual cash registers.

Later, the group members involved citizens of the country who contacted them by attracting them to illegal casinos and betting games through pages they opened on social networks in exchange for online payments.

During searches of their offices and apartments in the Xatai, Yasamal, and other districts of the capital, numerous electronic evidence, bank cards, mobile numbers, and other important business-related evidence were discovered. It was determined that the bank cards taken from the group members were purchased from various individuals for different payments and used in illegal money transfers.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Main Department under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code regarding these facts.//Oxu.Az
