Research: The two professions with the lowest risk of Alzheimer’s

The "Mass General Brigham" study has shown that taxi drivers and emergency vehicle drivers have the lowest rates of death risk from Alzheimer's disease.

Medianews.az reports that scientists analyzed nearly 9 million death certificates in the USA from 2020 to 2022. 348 thousand people died from Alzheimer's, but the rate was significantly lower among these two professions.

According to experts, these drivers constantly move on changing routes, using spatial memory, navigation skills, and quick decision-making. This strengthens the activity of the hippocampus — the brain area first damaged by Alzheimer's.

These results suggest that spatial memory and navigation skills in daily work may help maintain brain health over the long term.
