US-China artificial intelligence competition deepens

China's Meta company's attempt to acquire the Chinese startup "Manus" has been halted, showing that artificial intelligence is already regarded as a strategic field.

Medianews.az reports that this decision is said to have further strengthened the technology competition between the USA and China.

“Manus,” founded in the city of Wuhan, was known for its artificial intelligence system capable of performing autonomous tasks. The approximately 2 billion dollar sales agreement with Meta was seen as the Chinese startup's entry into the global market.

However, the Chinese government imposed an exit ban on the company's executives and stated that rule violations were detected in the sales process. Official Beijing evaluates artificial intelligence technologies as a “strategic asset.”

It is noted that the decision has further intensified the technological competition between the USA and China. In recent years, agreements between Chinese companies and foreign investors have sharply declined.

According to the information, some technology companies are relocating their operations to Singapore amid increasing restrictions. Experts believe that Beijing's move will also seriously affect future technological investments.
