Millions of "Thermos" branded products in the USA are being urgently recalled from the market due to lids spinning under pressure and causing serious injuries to users.
According to Milli.Az, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of approximately 8.2 million products. The recall decision covers "Stainless King" series food containers and "Sportsman" series glass thermoses.
Authorities have determined that food and liquids stored inside the containers for extended periods create high pressure. Lids without pressure relief valves reportedly spin violently when opened, causing cuts or impact-related injuries to users.
So far, 27 different injury cases have been recorded. As a result of these incidents, many people have received medical treatment, and it has been announced that three users have permanently lost their eyesight due to lids striking their eyes.
The recall process specifically targets certain model numbers of products manufactured before July 2023. Experts warn consumers to check the relevant model numbers and immediately cease using these products.
The "Thermos" company has declared that affected users can apply for a replacement lid or product exchange. For consumer safety, the company and the commission are jointly working to identify risky products during this process.
