Many passengers traveling from the capital towards Sumqayıt use the train to reach their destination comfortably and, most importantly, without traffic jams. However, for the past 10 months, the train line in this direction has been operating only up to Xırdalan. The line to Sumqayıt has been closed.
This reason is unclear even to the passengers.
Medianews.az reports that passengers state they have been able to use the train only up to Xırdalan from the capital for a long time. To go to Sumqayıt, they use other forms of transportation again, which is an additional expense and inconvenience.
Regarding the issue, "Azerbaijan Railways" Closed Joint Stock Company stated that the reason the trains do not operate up to Sumqayıt is due to repairs being carried out in that direction.
