On November 17, "525-ci qəzet" turns 33 years old.
Starting as a concise weekly publication, "525" gradually increased its circulation in stages since 1996 and from 1999 it transformed into a daily newspaper.
"525-ci qəzet" is currently published five times a week.
Five other dailies — "Yeni Azərbaycan", "Yeni Müsavat", "Bakı xəbər", "Şərq", and "Səs" — are also fully funded by the Media Development Agency, which provides financial support of 18,000 manats per month for each newspaper including their internet versions.
Starting from 2026, the Media Development Agency will provide financial assistance only for one issue per week of the newspapers. They will be paid 8,000 manats per month including the internet version.
According to Medianews.az, this will lead to changes in the circulation of some newspapers as well.
Rəşad Məcid, the editor-in-chief of "525-ci qəzet", said in a statement to Medianews.az that starting next year, they plan to publish the newspaper once a week: "We are considering publishing '525-ci qəzet' once a week — on Saturdays. We intend to publish our newspaper in 24 pages. The sale price will be 1 manat."
Currently, both 16-page and 24-page issues of "525" are sold for 40 qepiks.
