In Egypt, a tour guide who damaged the approximately 4,000-year-old Unas pyramid, which is included in UNESCO's World Heritage List, caused a scandal.
Medianews.az reports that the incident sparked widespread protests after spreading on social media.
The footage shows the guide drawing human figures on the surface of the pyramid while explaining to tourists and then trying to erase them.
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced that an investigation has been launched regarding the incident, the suspect has been identified and detained. It was reported that the guide confessed to drawing the images himself during his statement.
Although experts cleaned the marks, it is being investigated whether the historical monument was damaged or not. According to the legislation, imprisonment and fines are foreseen for such cases.
