The issue of retirement age in Azerbaijan remains relevant among citizens. Especially for those who have worked for many years and accumulated a certain capital, the possibility of early retirement is frequently discussed.
Medianews.az reports that Ekrem Hasanov, an economist expert speaking to konkret.az on the topic, stated that the current legislation does not allow for early retirement.
According to him, a citizen having 25 or more years of work experience, as well as accumulating a certain capital, does not provide a legal basis for retiring before the official retirement age.
The expert noted that according to the legislation, a citizen only gains the right to a pension after reaching a certain age threshold, which is 65 years.
"If the right to early retirement existed, then the pension would be automatically assigned," he emphasized.
Thus, according to the current rules, regardless of work experience or the amount of accumulated funds, citizens cannot retire early, and the age criterion remains the main condition.
