Born in 1956, Ali Asadov is a candidate of economic sciences. He has been a deputy of the National Assembly, an assistant to the president on economic issues, a deputy head of the Presidential Administration, an assistant to the president on economic issues and head of the administration department. He is a member of the Political Council of the New Azerbaijan Party.
Medianews.az reports that since the restoration of state independence in 1991, 8 more people have worked as prime minister in Azerbaijan, and 2 people have served as acting prime minister.
Hasan Hasanov, who was the chairman of the Council of Ministers since January 1990, was appointed prime minister in February 1991 and remained in that post until April 1992.
