The Media Development Agency will provide financial support from 2026 only for the publication of one issue of newspapers per week. It is planned to pay them 8000 manat per month along with the internet version.
Will this innovation affect the frequency of the "Yeni Müsavat" newspaper, which is currently published 5 times a week?
Answering the question from Medianews.az, editor-in-chief Nazim Sabiroğlu said that most likely "Yeni Müsavat" will be published once a week starting next year.
Emphasizing that no concrete decision has been made yet, Nazim Sabiroğlu stated that the final decision will be made closer to the end of the year with the participation of Rauf Arifoğlu, the head of the "Yeni Müsavat" Media Group to which the newspaper belongs: "In fact, the future fate of newspapers is quite clear. The profitability of newspapers is already low, and very minimal income is obtained from sales. Therefore, from the year when the Media Development Agency will provide financial support only for the publication of one issue of newspapers per week, it is practically an unavoidable reality that 'Yeni Müsavat' will also switch to weekly publication. Which day of the week our newspaper will be published and on how many pages has not been fully clarified yet, like other issues, but considering the existing problems related to publication, it does not seem reasonable that the weekly issue will be very thick. As I mentioned, the final decision will be made with the participation of Rauf Arifoğlu, the head of ‘Yeni Müsavat’ Media Group.”
Let us remind you that currently, along with "Yeni Müsavat," the Media Development Agency finances 5 issues per week of five other daily newspapers ("525-ci qəzet," "Yeni Azərbaycan," "Bakı xəbər," "Şərq," "Səs"), providing these newspapers 18,000 manat per month including the internet version.
