After completion, the Jeddah Tower project being built in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, will be the tallest building in the world. Expected to exceed a height of 1 kilometer, the building will go down in history as the first skyscraper to reach this height marker.
Medianews.az reports that currently, the tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Its height is 828 meters. However, the new project under construction in Jeddah is preparing to surpass this record. According to the information, Jeddah Tower has already reached the 106th floor out of the planned 160 floors, and the building's height has exceeded 426 meters.
Experts believe that in the coming months, the building will also surpass the 500-meter mark. The skyscraper is designed based on the "vertical city" concept. Here, residences, offices, hotels, commercial, and service areas will operate. A total of 59 elevators will be installed in the building, and it is reported that the usable area will be 530 thousand square meters.
One of the most notable features of the project is the observation deck located at a height of over 640 meters. Once completed, this will be the highest observation platform in the world, offering visitors panoramic views of the Red Sea. The architects of the project are the Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture studio. Interestingly, architect Adrian Smith is also the designer of the Burj Khalifa, which is currently the tallest building in the world.
Construction of Jeddah Tower began in 2013. Although the project was halted several times for various reasons, construction work has been continuing uninterrupted since 2025. This giant skyscraper is considered one of the main projects of Saudi Arabia's "Saudi Vision 2030" program.
