Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is preparing to change his position.
According to Medianews.az, he has once again announced his intention to schedule an early parliamentary election in the fall, and then resign.
Vučić declared his desire to participate in the parliamentary election and return to the prime minister's post at the beginning of June.
In the country, the government is formed according to the power ratio in the 250-seat parliament elected by proportional representation (by party lists). In the current parliament elected in 2023, the Serbian Progressive Party, associated with Aleksandar Vučić, holds the dominant position. The prime minister post is held by Juro Matsut, who is without party affiliation.
Aleksandar Vučić, born in 1970, graduated from the Faculty of Law at Belgrade University. He has held various leadership positions in the Serbian government since 2012, served as prime minister since 2014, and was elected president in 2017 and 2022. His second presidential term ends in the spring of 2027.
