The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion, Irishman Conor McGregor, will not be able to compete for one year due to an injury sustained in his fight against American Max Holloway.
Medianews.az reports, citing, that UFC president Dana White stated this at a press conference.
"McGregor is out for one year," he said.
McGregor lost to Holloway by technical knockout 65 seconds after the fight began at the UFC tournament held in Las Vegas. The Irish athlete injured his knee in the first seconds and could not continue the fight.
According to White, McGregor's anterior cruciate ligament in his knee was damaged. The fighter announced on social media that he will undergo surgery and later called for the fight to be considered no contest.
