"Yasin deceived me and got me fired" - Accusation from the People's Artist

People's Artist Tariyel Gasimov has revealed the details of the scandal that happened years ago with his colleague Yasin Karayev.

Medianews.az reports that the People's Artist stated in an interview with "Kanal S" television that he wrote a resignation letter and left the theater precisely because Yasin Karayev betrayed him:

"A new director had come to our theater. Later it became clear that Yasin and the director were related on the wife's side. The director held a meeting and said that those over the age of 65 should leave their jobs by submitting their resignation letters. Yasin told me, 'Come, let's both write resignation letters.' We sat down, supposedly both writing. I really wrote a letter, but it turned out he hadn't written one. The next day, an order was issued stating that Tariyel Gasimov would be dismissed at his own request. Yasin, however, stayed at work and still works in the theater today. He is currently 80 years old."

The People's Artist also answered the host's question, "Why did Yasin Karayev do this?":

"I have worked as a director and artistic director at the Gazakh State Drama Theater. I created and led a theater in the city of Derbent in Dagestan. The newcomer here also felt that he could not easily overpower me. If he had said something, he would have gotten a response. That’s why they did this."

Tariyel Gasimov said that later he asked Yasin Karayev the reason for this:

"I asked him, 'You told me, "Let's go write a resignation," but why didn't you write one?' His answer was: 'You shouldn't have written. Did I force you? You saw that I didn’t submit a resignation, but you hastened and wrote one yourself.'"

Let us remind that in 2011, 8 actors over the age of 65 were sent to retirement at the Azerbaijan State Young Spectators Theater. Among that list, alongside Tariyel Gasimov, were People's Artists Firangiz Sharifova, Solmaz Gurbanova, Agakhan Salmanli, and Honored Artists Rafiq Huseynov, Latifa Aliyeva, Sona Babayeva, and Nazim Ibrahimov as well.
