According to the data from the National Hydrometeorology Service as of 13:00 today, heavy rain is currently continuing in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula.
According to the information provided to Medianews.az by the Service, in the last 100 years, on March 21, 1988, the amount of precipitation that fell within 24 hours was 36.8 mm, which constituted 156% of the monthly norm. On March 27 of this year, the daily precipitation amount was recorded at 120 mm. This is equivalent to 508% of the monthly norm.
Regarding the monthly indicators, in March 1988, a total of 83 mm of precipitation fell in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, accounting for 352% of the monthly norm. During the past 27 days of March 2026, the amount of precipitation was 128 mm, which constitutes 542% of the monthly norm.
Thus, records for both daily and monthly precipitation indicators have been updated.
