Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced during a phone conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban that explosive materials were discovered near the strategic gas pipeline connecting the two countries.
Medianews.az, citing Musavat.com, reports that Vučić shared this information on his "Facebook" page, stating that Serbian law enforcement agencies prevented a sabotage attempt against a critical infrastructure facility. "I just finished my phone call with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and informed him about the preliminary results of the investigation conducted by our military and police," said the Serbian leader.
According to him, the security forces discovered the explosives and detonators necessary to blow up the pipeline. This incident is considered a "second Nord Stream" scenario for Europe's energy security, as the mentioned pipeline is one of the main routes through which Hungary receives Russian gas.
Although there has not yet been an official statement regarding the identity of the forces behind the sabotage attempt during the ongoing investigation, the protection of energy facilities in both countries has been raised to the highest level. It is reported that after this warning, Viktor Orban called for an urgent meeting of Hungary's National Security Council.
