Vens: US and Iranian representatives could not reach an agreement

“US and Iranian representatives were unable to reach an agreement during the talks held in Pakistan.”

This was stated by the US Vice President James David Pence.

"We had a number of substantive discussions with the Iranians. This is good news. The bad news is that we could not reach an agreement," Pence said.

The US Vice President also added that Washington still does not see Iran's willingness to abandon the development of nuclear weapons.

"We need a firm guarantee that they will not try to develop nuclear weapons and will not try to acquire the means that quickly enable obtaining nuclear weapons. The question is: do we see their willingness not to develop nuclear weapons not only now, not only two years later, but also in the long term? We have not seen this and we hope to see it," Pence added.

He also said that the Iranian side rejected the US conditions in the Pakistan talks.

"We have very clearly stated where our red lines are, why we are ready to accept them, and why we are not ready to accept them, and we have expressed it as clearly as possible. They have chosen not to accept our conditions," Pence said.

Additionally, Pence said that the US delegation presented a last favorable offer to Iran./apa
