Renowned Turkish actress Özgü Namal attracted attention with her answer to a question at a press conference of the festival she attended in Berlin.
Qafqazinfo reports that the actress responded to the reporter's question "If you could present this story in Turkey, would your performance be different?" as follows:
"It should be clarified. This is not a performance that cannot be shown or filmed in Turkey. We must first clarify this. We did not film here because we could not film in Turkey, this was chosen to be filmed here."
Namal, who stated that she has been acting for 25 years, said, "Maybe the world is unaware of us, but even when the world was not watching or aware of us, we were people who spent a lot of time and effort acting."
Özgü Namal’s response sparked discussion on social media. Many followers, as well as singer Demet Akalın, showed their support for her.
It should be noted that support for Palestine continues at this year's 67th Berlin International Film Festival. The premiere of the film "Sarı Zärflär" starring Özgü Namal and Tansu Biçer, directed by İlker Çatak, took place in the main competition section of the 76th Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale). The film's team, competing for the "Golden Bear," met with the international press before the screening, and the aforementioned dialogue took place at this press conference.
